Well, here we are. It’s Monday, October 2, 2017. We had a mass shooting in Vegas last night, and today, I am numb. This will be relatively short and to the point. How much longer are we going to sit back, say nothing, and wait to see which way the media blows us? It is time for us to stand up and take a stand for mankind. It is time to do something. The truth of the matter is that none of us are safe. None of us are safe. The only emotion that I felt when I heard the shots and watched the people running for their lives was overwhelming sadness. It’s time to look up from our cell phones, computers, tablets, televisions, or any other devices and look out into our communities to find out what we can do to make them better. Politicians can’t make it better for us. Truthfully, they never have. This Country is the great place that it is because for generations, the people have struggled and fought to make it a better place. That time is here again. Selfies are sometimes selfish. Tweets are sometimes impersonal. Snapchat and Instagram videos are often too short to have depth. The only way to do it is to step outside of ourselves and do something. The world quickly will cease to remember those who only destroy. However, we will never forget those that have dedicated their lives to improving and rebuilding. If you’re more concerned about the specs of the latest iPhone, the colors of the latest shoes, upgrading the interior of your new home, or the upgrades to your vehicle than you are about those living around you, you shouldn’t be afraid of dying anymore. You should be afraid of living. This world needs a reset. Let’s start today. Find the child that still lives inside of you and make a change. Back then, we didn’t care who was in the sandlot as long as they didn’t mind playing in the sand. It’s time.
