About

Patrick Garland moved to Metropolitan Washington, DC from Richmond, Virginia. While in Richmond, Patrick studied Criminal Justice with a concentration in Pre-Law and a minor in Philosophy at Virginia Commonwealth University. In Patrick’s own words, “my experiences at Virginia Commonwealth University exposed me to wonders, power, limits, apatnd misconceptions about the human experience. This was, by far, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in life.” While in pursuit of a legal degree, Patrick discovered his true passion; working with underprivileged, underestimated, and often overlooked children. It was then that he began his career as an educator. Patrick continued his education acquiring a Master of Education from the University of Mary Washington (Go Eagles!) and an Ed.S from Regent University. In his free time, if there is such a thing, Patrick created Youngstarz!, an academic, social, and personal group dedicated to changing the world one student at a time, Psi Nu Omega, a social action group that responds to the needs of various communities, works with the homeless in every way that he possibly can, writes poetry, plays music as a DJ and instrumentalist, and writes to liberate his own spirit. Recently, Patrick appeared in two movies that currently appear on Amazon Prime.  Those movies are “440 Negroes” and  “The Elaine Massacre. A Red Summer Documentary.”  Patrick believes that the only differences between every inhabitant of this planet called earth is the color of their skin, the Gods that they worship, the languages that they speak, and the music that they enjoy. Other than those qualities, we are not only similar, but also distant family. Patrick believes that adversity is the precipice of change and fear is the enemy of growth. “Together, we can change the world. We have nothing to lose but the divides that have kept us apart.”
